Rooibos was discovered around the turn of the 19th century by the indigenous people of the Cedarberg region, where the bush was found growing wild on the mountain slopes. The needle-like Rooibos leaves were cut, bruised, fermented and sun dried, later to be infused to provide a delicious beverage, hot or chilled, which was found to have highly beneficial effects.

Rooibos has long been recognized to relieve digestive ills, and promote healthy skin, teeth, and bones. Naturally caffeine free, and low in tannins, rooibos tea doesn't interfere with the absorption of iron, protein and other healthy minerals.

Since then, production methods have been refined, and quality control established so that people the world over can enjoy the unique benefits of Rooibos. Herbal Teas International is your direct source for a wide range of raw materials and extracts for blending to final packaged products, including Flavored Rooibos, Unfermented "Green" Rooibos, Iced Rooibos Tea, Skin Care products and many other items. We're committed to being the leader in meeting the ever-changing needs of our consumers, continually developing new products in partnership with our customers.
